Research

POH Regional Medical Center (POH) allows and encourages participation in biomedical and clinical research programs involving human subjects as well as the development of devices or products for human use. All such research conducted at POH shall be governed by relevant Bioethics Committee policies and reviewed by the hospital’s contracted Institutional Review Board (IRB).

Scholarly activity is a component of the core curricula for all residency programs. As such, it is incumbent upon all graduate medical students to engage in at least some research activity. The nature and degree of this activity is subject to the wishes of both the accrediting agencies and your residency director.

The interdisciplinary Committee shall determine the appropriateness of a proposed research study in relation to hospital resources and determine whether the research conforms to community standards for the conduct of research.

All research must abide by Federal regulations governing research involving human subjects (45 CFR Part 46; 21 CFR Parts 50 and 56).
