Overview

Diverse, challenging opportunities are available through the graduate medical education programs at POH Regional Medical Center (POH). POH combines the holistic heritage of osteopathic medicine with progressive graduate programs and practical patient care experiences.

POH is a primary member of the Statewide Campus System of the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM), setting consistent, high-quality academic standards for training osteopathic physicians. POH also serves as a base medical center for the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (KCUMB) and TOURO University.

All internship and residency programs are approved by the American Osteopathic Association Division of Postdoctoral Training, or the Council on Podiatric Medical Education. Residency programs meet the requirements for specialty board certification. Every applicant is selected on the basis of academic and personal qualifications regardless of race, sex, color, religion, national origin or marital status.

POH is one of the largest osteopathic teaching hospitals in the United States. It is a modern, fully equipped acute care facility, which offers an outstanding range of opportunities for the progressive medical student, intern, and resident. The highly acclaimed Emergency Department receives over 40,000 visits annually and is recognized as one of the top trauma centers in the State of Michigan.

The Clarkston Health Center incorporates 24-hour emergency services, diagnostic services, laboratory, MIR and rehabilitation services. Also available at the Clarkston campus are reminiscence units and assisted living units to help meet the unique needs of our aging population.

POH also operates an ambulatory center in nearby Oxford. The Center offers complete Family Practice and 24-hour Urgent Care services as well as regularly scheduled access to Specialty Care. With a service area that draws patients from urban, suburban, and rural settings, POH can offer you a memorable and rewarding introduction to your medical career.

The medical staff at POH takes great pride in providing broad-based educational opportunities. The full-time medical staff represents 45 clinical specialties and subspecialties. More than 1,000 employees, including over 400 nursing personnel, provide skilled clinical and technical support.
