As a primary member of the Statewide Campus System of Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, all graduates receive a certificate from Michigan State University.

POH Regional Medical Center is approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) to provide an OGME-1t (Option 3), Traditional Rotating Internship. The internship offers a broad range of patient management and outpatient clinical situations. The program also provides significant educational opportunities in both medical and surgical experiences.

The POH curriculum combines osteopathic principles and practice with bio-psychological knowledge and skills. Interns receive exposure to anesthesiology, pathology, radiology, and other disciplines related to the clinical practice of medicine.

Interns follow assigned hospital patients from admission through discharge. Intern instruction includes daily rounds, bedside teaching, and medical record skills. Supervised by members of the medical staff, interns take on increasing responsibilities in an effort to instill confidence in their clinical judgment.

A number of daily clinical conferences are held at POH for the house staff. Interns also participate with medical staff in activities, which evaluate patient care (e.g., medical audit, mortality, tissue, utilization review, and tumor committee meetings).
